I have decided to go synthetic for my next oil change (10K) on my chipped 1.8TQMS, but I have been contemplating which brand to use. I had a talk with a rep. who works for Royal Purple and he totally convinced me that it is an excellent product, far superior to Mobil 1 and the other popular synthetics. It is used in some of the most powerful engines in the world like in the fastest Fountain Cig. boat and the fastest small block Chevy, etc. It has been used in vehicles for over 100K miles without being changed. It actually gave a couple engines increased HP in a recent magazine test. I am ready to try this stuff (it's about $5 per quart)! Anyone have any experiences/info. for me? Kevin, just my 2 cents worth but any of the synthetic oil products are far superior to convention oil products.Any makers synthetic will do far more than what's in your car now. Just buy what you can get for the best price. Mobil 1 is usually the less expensive but if you can get synthec or whatever for less buy it. Just be sure it's not a mix and is 100% synthetic.Some brands do the conventional/synthetic mix and bill top dollar for it (if you want to mix do it yourself and save. While many claim their synthetics are the best the fact is they are all so damn close it isn't worth the price some are charging.Some like Amsoil are almost twice the price of mobil 1 and in tests are negligably more useful.I use mobil 1 20-50 in my car and it works just great but next time I will use whatever I can get for the best price. Hey it's your money - but look into it first, you'll see I'm right..
