Anyway to modify (shorten) bumper supports?

Hey guys/gals, I'm venturing over from the C5 forum in search for a solution to pull the bumper support on my A6 in about 1.5 inches. I bought an aftermarket replacement bumper cover and, lo and behold, it's a european style (pug-nosed with euro plate indent)....

...cool for me, but now I need to get it fitted. Any way to modify the bumper shocks while retaining the 5mph feature?

LLTek sells 'Euro Modified OEM Impact Bar Supports' which I am strongly considering, but I need to verify thier change in length from the US ones...unless anyone here can knows?

Any input/suggestions are welcome! TIA.

hrm, it's a solid metal unit, I don't think you'd be able to cut or modify it in any way

and still keep the safety characteristics.

I'm not sure what that item is that LLTek is selling, but would the euro A6 mounts work if you were able to get a source on them?

i don't see anyway to do it to get 2 inches out of it without losing the safety feature

Seems like the least amount of work would be to try to get the lltek ones. The only other idea i have is cut where they bolt to and make a plate to weld in.
