Just spoke to Valvoline. Their 5w-30 SynpPower in Europe carries mfg approvals from VW/Porsche, Mercedes and BMW, et al. In the USA, formulas are quite different. US SynPower 5w-30 has an HT/HS (high shear / high stress) level of 3.0 where the Euro standard test that mfgs are based on require a 3.5 or greater. HT/HS is not an inconcequential spec and VW/Audi was quite in error to transcribe their European list of approved oils to the US market. They recommend ELF and TOTAL for crying out loud! When will VW/Audi get it's act together in terms of oil service? SynPower is a good product, just use the 5w-40 from NAPA if you want an oil that meets Euro specs. (rolls eyes)

I dont think you'll have to worry about M1, Mercedes and Porsche use it primarily at the dealership.
