I just phoned the Canadian Customs about whether I can be exampted for taxation when sending the ECU/chip to APR for an upgrade. The answer is yes but the following steps have to be done first:
1. Have APR write a letter to the Canadian Customs
to indicate this is a "Warranty Repair" (hmm...
which I think it is) and is free of charge --
this means no purchase is involved.
2. The above letter has to be included in the
package (ECU) that APR returns to you.
3. Note to APR: when returning the ECU to us,
please do not declare the value of it as $0,
instead you should still write the actual cost
of the ECU on the slip for the customs.
Hope this helps!
To APR: Thanx for listening!
