Default APR chip installation

On the how to at APR's site, it says to determine the correct coding for the anti theft radio before removing the battery cable
Can anyone explain how to do this?
thanks

The radio owners manual has a little card in the front with the code for your radio.

Default When I installed the chip on my 2000...

Chris at APR told me I didn't need to disconnect the battery cable when installing the chipped ECU. If I didn't disconnect the battery, I wouldn't need to set/reset the anti-theft code.

This may differ for earlier A4s. Call APR. They're more than happy to help.

Just sharing my experience. If you just wanted to know about the code out of curiosity, RKA is right.

Default DON'T remove batery cable. It is not required

Sorry for yelling, its just that you don't have to remove the cable. Just omit that step in the procedure.

Default Re: APR chip installation

I've just installed the APR chip in my 2000 a4 Avant. The installation guide doesn't say anything about diconnecting the battery.
Maybe it's for pre-Y2K models.

Default Just installed chip, disconnected battery, but *didn't* have to enter radio code. Go figure.

Default Your dealer should have coded your radio prior to delivery; anti-theft reasons.
