Default APR Chip - Throttle Adaption Feature?

This past weekend APR installed a chip into my 2001 A4. One of the APR folks walked me through the ECMS features, but I wasn't exactly clear on what the throttle body alignment accomplishes and when I need to use it.

Do I ever need to do a TBA again, since the chip is already installed? After driving off, I noticed it took a few minutes for me to actually "feel" the additional power. I'm guessing the engine was adapting? Feels fine now.

Default Re: APR Chip - Throttle Adaption Feature?

You need to do it whenever you switch the program or remove the ECU, disconnect the battery, etc. You can do it by turning your key to the on position for 2 minutes, then turning the engine on for 2 minutes. During that 4 minutes the A/C must be off... and you must not touch the accel. pedal. You can also to the TBA with the ross tech or similar, or if your chip has it (I'm not familiar with APR, but you make it sounds as though it does) You can do it through that.

Default

TBA is only needed when having a new ECU installed, or new throttle body installed.

Default I have to do the TBA when I switch between stock and chipped?

I've got the TBA included in the chip's ECMS functions. I also got stock and chipped as the two other features.

So when I switch between stock and chipped, I gotta do a TBA each time? I'm pretty sure when the APR rep did it only once... and he switched between the programs several times to demonstrate.

Not doubting I have to do it every time... just want to make sure. Thanks.
