Default APR Group Purchase - Last call

Everyone,

First: this is likely to be the last APR group purchase ever.
I've spoken with APR - they are instituting a new Distributor system, and will strongly discourage advertised nationwide discounts to encourage sales from your local APR Distributor. They are allowing this one, because the Distributor network isn't fully formed yet. This is likely the last APR group purchase ever. So if you're interested in a discount, it may be now or never.

Second: visit <A HREF="https://audi.jedinite.com">https://audi.jedinite.com</A> for all the details on the Group Purchase. I've setup a mailing list, you can add or remove yourself at will. There is also a secure order form - you can punch in your entire order including payment info, over 128-bit SSL.

Third: if you've already expressed interest, but I don't have all your info (including payment info) then you need to go and fill out the secure order form. I'm not calling anyone any more. If you haven't, you still have the rest of the week to sign up. If I have all your info (we've most likely spoken on the phone) then you're fine. If you're worried, you can submit the secure order form, you will not be billed twice.

Fourth: the discount is guaranteed at 20% off of chip and EMCS purchases. No discount off of spare ECU purchase, but the spares are available.

Fifth: the deadline is Saturday Februry 10th (02/10/01) at 11:59pm. I will be processing the orders on Sunday, and giving them to AutoMotives (<A HREF="http://AutoMotivesUSA.com">http://AutoMotivesUSA.com</A>) first thing Monday morning.

If you have questions about the chip, the fitment for your vehicle, or other technical questions, visit APR's website at <A HREF="http://www.goARP.com">http://www.goARP.com</A>. You can also call APR with questions at 1-800-680-7921 or email apr@goapr.com.

I really don't have time to process a whole lot of questions, or to waste my time with incomplete orders. I'm not profiting off this Group Purchase, and I don't intend to spend a bunch of time. I'm just getting the discount for the two chips I'm purchasing (for my 2001 TT 225hp qc and my wife's 2000 A4 1.8T). So do your research, check out the website I've setup, and place your order.

Default 4 comments...

1.) Could you please post this on the News & Events forum as that moves a lot slower so people can reference this and saves you from posting over and over.

2.) Who are Automotives and why are you processing orders with them? They don't even have APR chips on their site. Why can't we go directly through APR?

3.) In the link to APR's website, you misspelled "ARP" so the link is no good

4.) I think your final paragraph is really rude and if I were APR, I'd have issues with you being associated with them. They would never write something like that.

1) will do, good idea

2) AutoMotives is a performance company here in Kansas City. They are in the process of becoming an APR distributor. APR was not interested in doing a Group Purchase - they specifically said that they would not do so - it's all going to be through the distributor network in the future.

3) Oops. Thanks

4) Don't you think you're being a little over-sensative?

I received about 300 emails from my first post for the Group Purchase. I've fielded and made about 75 phone calls. All that for about 30 complete orders.

If I were making money on this deal, I might have more patience or be more polite. If I'm curt, its because time is a factor. If i've offended you, sorry. But I stand by my statements.

You are correct.

But even if they weren't out of date, they are self-signed (self issued). So you'd still get the pop-up message.

This does not affect the transport layer security in the slightest. Information is still encrypted via 128-bit SSL, it's just an added annoyance that you have to click-through the pop-up.

I wasn't interested in paying Verisign to secure a group purchase order form

Default Only 10% of the people interested committed?

That should make you wonder whats wrong. First of all, this is the most F@#$%D up group buy I've ever seen. Second no wonder you haven't had a better response, everything seems kinda shady to me. Site certificates out of date, you're not willing to give any info, you don't have a definite price set, and you want my credit card #???
No wonder APR isn't doing any more group buys!

Default (#4) I can understand that...

I have not had a chance to visit the site you set up, so I do not know how clear the info is that you have there. No matter how clear it is, some poeple will always ask more questions. Or maybe, there's not all the good info there, I don't know.

Here's a site that I put together over a year ago. Might interest you. <a href="http://drive.to/aprgroupbuy">http://drive.to/aprgroupbuy</a> Geeze, and to think I only had one car that could have benefitted from my work.

Default 10% of emails, not people

I received a total of just over 300 emails. Many multiples from people.

But yes, a lot of people asked basic questions answered in my posts or on my site or on APR's site.

> Site certificates out of date

This matters, somehow? If I ordered a $150 cert from Verisign, that would make you feel more at ease?

> you're not willing to give any info

what do you mean, I'm not willing to give any info? I've been answering questions for days and days. And I'm continuing to do so. I never said I wouldn't answer questions, only that "I really don't have time to process a whole lot of questions" and that "I don't intend to spend a bunch of time.". Not "I won't answer any questions", but "Don't ask me questions that you can answer yourself - Don't be lazy!".

There is a definate price set. 20% discount.
Don't know how much more definate you can get.

And I don't really understand people's protectiveness of their credit card numbers. 95% of all the cards out there have a $0 fraud policy, so that you're not even liable for the $50 like you used to be. It's as simple as calling your CC company and refuting the charges.

Regardless, everything is on the up and up. APR is aware of my efforts, but this is not an officially supported APR buy. You can call AutoMotives, or whatever to satisfy. But I'm not really concerned - I'm extending the courtesty of a Group Purchase price to my fellow AudiWorlders. That's all.
