Just keep it fresh and, more importantly, topped way up.

Default I can hear a ticking from my 98.5 1.8 as well ...

seems to only be noticeable under load (positive boost) and it disappears after a minute or so. I thought it might be the cam tensioner but wouldn't that be there at an idle or while just reving the engine? The sound seems to be coming mostly from the passenger side (can't hear it unless I roll down the passenger window) so it might be exhaust related but if there was a leak somewhere, would it go away after a minute of driving? I've got fresh oil (Valvoline SynPower 5W-40) and the noise is still there. Any ideas as to what this might be?
