Default ATTN: all '96 A4 owners with Aftermarket Headunits

I know that i should post this in the audio forum as well, but i figured that my question pertains more to the A4 than the stereo itself.

A few months ago I purchased a Blaupunkt casablanca headunit and could not get either the AM or FM to work. I tried nuerous powered antenna adapters to no avail. I had it tested to see if it was defective and it was perfectly fine. Yesterday, after selling the blau, I purcahsed a Pioneer Premier P330 headunit along with an MTX amp and a JL sub. Once again I have no AM or FM reception. Is there anything I can do to boost reception? how did you other '96ers do it?

Default Do you have the VW/Audi adapter?

It is an antenna wire and power wire. The power is sent down the antenna wire to a booster in the trunk.

Default Are you installing yourself? I took mine to Tweeter and mine works. Let me just say that

my reception isn't 100% like it should be, but it's very good.

A friend of mine's '96 has slight reception problems, but for the most part it's okay.

Default Re:Installed myself

I installed the first radio (the blaupunkt) myself and the AM didn't work at all and the FM went in and out as i was driving. I had a very good local shop install my pioneer Premier this time around due to the fact that i though it could have been a problem with my previous installation. But the same exact thigns occur with the radio. This whole while the stock radio (delta) has perfect reception.

Default Sounds like you have to do some investigating

is there power? is it the headunit? is it the antenna amplifier?
