Default Audi 2.8 Misfire Problem

I currently own a 99 Audi A4 Quattro 2.8. The car has started to misfire and really get on my nerves. The bulk of the problem is when there is a load on the engine like accelerating or going up hills, cruising speeds and idling are not too bad. I have had the codes ran and I am getting a P1300 and a P0306 code. I was wondering if anyone has had similar experiences or know what the problem could be. i have been seeking out some pointers, trying to avoid taking it to the mechanic. I have changed the plugs but no luck. My next guess is the coil pack or plug wires. Also my vacuum lines have been broken and repaired before but i don't think that would cause the misfire.I was wondering what ways I could test these because both parts are rather expensive. Or it could be something else completely, I am just looking for some help. Sorry I am newer to Audis and am in desperate need of help.

Thanks

That's cylinder 6, rear on driver's side. You might try switching that wire with cylinder 1, the see if you now get a P0301. If you still get P0306, then maybe the fuel injector, or low compression. Because each coil fires two plugs in series, a bad coil should give two cylinder misfires.

I just bought a 2001 a4 with a 2.8L and am having a misfire problem also. I changed the plugs. It helped but i drove it for about 100 miles and noticed it started to come back. So i orderd plug wires i hope this fixes the problem. Also before i orderd plug wires I took a spray bottle with water and sprayed down the coil and didnt get any arking and it didnt misfire. So you may want to try that first before you go and buy a coil pack. I payed 66.72 per side.

You guys should start with the coolant temp sensor. Plug wires rarely fail and are easily tested.

Is the coolant temp sensor a common problem on B5's that causes misfires.

How can I test the coil packs on the 2.8. Can I just swap the cylinder 6 wire with cylinder 1 or will that throw off the timing.

Did you change the coolant temp sensor yet?

Ok now The throttle is being funny. It wont have much power until a certain point then all of a sudden it will basically take off like a rocket.

The other day I just took the MAF sensor and blew it out, this really seemed to help but it is already coming back. I think today I am going to take it out and really clean it good.

I bought the coolent temp sensor but it turned out it was the wrong one, and when I was taking it off I broke the clip so I am so happy about that.

I was wondering if anyone had some other ideas from this information. I am about to take it to a mechanic but don't want to because I'm a broke college student. Please help

just take it to the shop they can use diagnostic scan tool and advice you which coil is bad, you will save a lot of money in long run..
