Suddenly both the oil sludge warranty and control arm recall pop up on the radar screen within a short period of time. Both are well documented issues, that Audi has finally decided to address (with the usual stipulations). Do you think they are starting to feel some pains, and they are reacting to that? Or is all of this just standard business practice? In particular, it seems to me they've avoided the control arm issue long enough that they could just sweep it under the rug at this point...so why the recall, and why now?? Most of the cars affected are well outside the factory warranty, and there's really no immediate safety issue at stake.

the uppers fail much more frequently.
and the reason as I understand is that if the 151 arm goes the wheel can become very difficult to control... leading to a very nasty driving experience.

but I can't recall one instance where someone has mentioned that they lost control of their car (or even came close) due to this.

up. It took magazine exposure to get the CP and MAF failure issues to be a priority for VAG

and that means they have to stop the bleeding caused by some bitchy current owners ![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Ask a bunch of people outside of the Audi community what they think of Audi vehicles and I bet many will say that they are unreliable dressed up VWs. That perception is not what Audi needs if they want to take a chunk out of BMW's sales.
