My 99 wagon has had some rust bubbles in the location pictured for the past 2 years. Had no history of accidents when I purchased from 2nd owner. The rust has bubbled so much now that the driver's door trim piece hits the fender so I took it to dealer and they say it has previous body work and will not be covered.
Can I simply sandblast this area and repaint to at least temporarily stop the rust--i know it won't be pretty. There is absolutely no rust (surprisingly) on the inside of door or fender. Thanks for any input

I brought it up to service: The service manager was on vacation each time.
-Now I am off my CPO warranty.. but have it documented for early in my purchase.
Is this worth pursuing?

something outside of the manufacturers hands (something punching a hole through) So what if he punched a hole through and then put salt or other chemicals on the hole to spead up oxidation/rust process and then took it back. Would they say something different then?
