I have only seen it once ever and it was not perforated, but....
the car was about a month old and it was one of the first passat 4 motion wagons. So it was VW moving into new price point territory and wanted to do them right.. and well if it was rusted after a month you can bet there would be a hole after 12 years.

It would be easier to just find another door in the right color
or at least a good door shell and swap over your internal parts.
I actually painted 2 door shells to match one of my C4s because I ran across a stellar deal on the shells. It wasn't too bad, but it would have been worth $100 to $150 in my opinion if I could have found them in the right color.
