Default Audi Problems

We have just learned that our 96 Audi is going to require a $2,000 repair job on the rear quatro system. Anybody else have this problem? Bummer. Does not make me want to buy another Audi.

Default This is the 1st Quattro problem I have heard of

Sorry to hear it.
What is wrong with it?
What caused it?

debbio,

I'm sorry to hear this. I know this is no comfort, but I have never heard of any problems from any early MY owners about this. Please keep us updated. Did you call AoA? They usually help owners _once_ after the warranty expires. Owners with big-ticket expenses have had success with partial reimbursement.. You may want to use your one or only "get outta jail free" card on this problem.

If they don't want to help, document this problem with them anyway. It may help in the future.

Regards,
Bob

Thanks for the posts. We will know more tomorrow. Having another dealer look at the problem and will let you know. Otherwise, except for minor problems that come with every car, we love the car. Great in Chicago snow.

Default the only thing I can think of...

your rear diff ran dry...ie, you leaked all the diff fluid out and ran it dry. That would cause a big problem. If that is the case, the dealer should have spotted a leak upon inspection in prior service visits. See what AoA will do if anything for you.

You are absolutely right!! That's what the new dealer said was the problem. Also, said there would be no prior warning. Had it serviced about three months ago...Bummer. Working with AoA and they have so far been helpful but waiting for more. Thanks. deb.
