Audi says no to F1
Audi will not contest F1 for the time being.
The German car giant has ruled out an entry into motorsport’s big league, despite claims it was interested following the introduction of bitter rival BMW as engine supplier to Williams this year.
‘If Audi thinks it is the right thing to do, we will go to F1, but at the moment we don’t think that,’ said Audi sport boss Wolfgang Ullrich to "Autosport Magazine".
Audi parent Volkswagen previously denied F1 plans, opting instead to concentrate on new road cars.
In 1997, Audi were also linked to an F1 presence, when it is was rumoured the company were set to buy into the Benetton team.
