Audi Symphony not CD-R playable?

ripping speed makes a diff????
joe,
i'm concerned about audio quality too. i figured a rip is a rip. a digital copy (1s and 0s) moved to another media (HD)
how does it degrade? i have a few ideas but i guess i didn't pay too much attention in my DSP classes. =(
i know burning at slower speeds helps with eventual readability since the pits that get burned at higher speeds are more shaped like ovals (for a 1) than a circle
Been researching the best rippers and encoders as well. I use macs to do most of my audio ripping/encoding but starting to use more PCs for that as well. any good suggestions for PC software and your particular procedures?
TIA.

Possibly quality of media.
I find the anything less than 12x today seems to be low reflectivity.. Buy some good kodak CD-R's and try it. Otherwise you laser is probably dirty(you smoke?) or out of alignment.
