Audiworlders, what would you think of a RX-7 as a beater/project car?

replacing the seals pretty much means a rebuild every 60K AFAIK. I think that's the main issue...otherwise the cars are well built. This particular feature is a result of the design...not a design flaw, but a consequence of the design of the rotary engine. As far as Toaster's comments...he could very well be right. I would do some research on online forums to see what you can dig up.
A miata...GREAT little project cars! The Gen I miata's are cheap, reliable, and the motor was built for a turbo. Turbo kits are readily available as well. You'll love the feel of the car at an autocross if you decide to do that...nothing like a lightweight car! HUGE aftermarket for this car as well.

I'm considering an older 944. Lots of parts out there, very inexpensive to get in to, 50/50 weight distribution.
