Avant Owners and Wind Noise - Roof Rails?

I know I've brought this up before, but since this topic seems to have resurfaced, I thought I'd repost.
I went to my dealer and complained about the wind noise in my 99.5 Avant and did not get satisfaction; they told me it was normal but I don't think they even checked it. The mirrors already have the rubber gasket installed. I tried the dollar bill trick and the door frames seem to be OK, but you never know.
Anyway, it does seem as if the factory rails are responsible for much of the noise I hear, especially during strong cross winds or speeds over 65mph. It was especially loud during my trip to LA at speeds of 75mph with strong cross winds - even the stereo wasn't enough to drown out the sound.
Anyone else getting wind noise in their Avant? Impressions? Fixes?
I'm curious if others have noticed the same thing. I'm going to bitch some more when I go back for my next service.

My mirrors are fine. I've never noticed _any_ noise from the roof rails. I have just started to have wind noise from the driver's door but will probably try to adjust it this weekend. That dollar bill pulls out awfully easily and the corner of the window frame is visibly less flush than it is on the other doors.
Marty

...maybe i need to test drive another avant to know it's normal or not. SF Bay Area Avant drivers... let's do a wind noise meeting! Hehe.
I definitely hear some noise coming off the top of the door jamb and the top of the windshield. What's this about a dollar bill trick?
-eric

to the window frame alignment or the mirrors. I know what you mean when you said that the radio can't even drown the noise out. Mine was the same way on the freeway at around 80mph.
Just this weekend I finally fixed the problem. I noticed that whenever I pulled on the door panel and held it, the wind noise went away. So I took the panel apart and found out that it latches onto a metal strip which is welded to the window frame. When I pulled the door panel in I assume it pulled the panel against the metal strip sealing it. So what I did was I bought some packaging foam sheet at mail boxes etc. and wrapped it around the metal strip several times until it was pretty thick and I reinstalled the panel. This sealed the cracks and now I'm wind noise free.....
