avoiding road debris 101.

There also wouldn't have been a car on either side of him
Maybe one side, but not both. That is a situation you're told (but not taught) to avoid while in drivers' ed.
You should always be aware of what's around you and always have a way out. That's the kind of proactive thinking that is never taught to new drivers.

Also kind of like how I never spend more than a few seconds next to a semi...
...either I'm going to accelerate and pass him quickly, or (1 out of a 1,000 times) I'm going to lift throttle and let him pass me quickly. This is something I think my dad taught me but was never mentioned in drivers ed. I see people all the time driving right next to a semi. I don't get that. Might end up accidentally crushed like Jyoteen's wreck with a semi last week.

I'm usually passing everyone on the road at a decent pace, I usually never follow anyone anywhere.
I've dodged tires b4, but I was too close. the tire I witness experinced explode on the truck, my granny driving friend was driving almost in his blind spot when it went. we had the windows open and I almost caught some of the debris. My ears were ringing too.
