Default maybe a AWM would work if its an early B6...

otherwise things get wierd with the returnless fuel system.

Located in the US? The swap violates federal emissions laws.

Default Why would that be?

Couldn't the older engine be brought up to newer spec? The car would still have to pass emissions tests for its own model year.

Default Yes but it is pretty much the same long block.

The head is the same AWM to AMB iirc... the block is the same too depending on vin range.

Block 06b-103-101-h used from model years 01-06
Head 06a-103-265-gx used from model years 01-06

Default Are you suggesting that common sense should play a part in emissions requirements?

Stupid? For sure, but that's the law. Older engines can't go into newer cars even if the engine code is identical.

Default So is going 56 mph in a 55 zone.

No one cares.

Removing your cat is illegal too but tons of people do it anyways.
