*shakes fist* ... why can't people just put things back the way they are supposed to be?
there are some thing that... sure you have to work around. But there is no reason to switch a bolt for a zip tie. The stock system isn't that bad to deal with...

Wow, I'm embarrassed to say that when I made my comment about the center vents....
I thought all three had wheels on the left side, lol. Damn, where's the memory gone?

Keeper of the Cash
Except when the bolt is complete frozen and damages the very part used to hold it in place
It was not done out out of laziness, but necessity. Plus, it's not like that filter is just going to drop out and drag on the ground.

Explanation...
My air conditioner/heater (2001 A4) is possessed by kobolds (German elves of mischief). Well, since I've seen this in other A4s, I'll assume it isn't just my car.
Anyway, get in the car, set the temperature to 24C or so and three fan marks. The car will decide--on its own if it is cold--to change the fan speed to near-maximum or, if it thinks I am setting a deliriously-high temperature, it will lower the fan speed.
Dealership says this is by design. I say it is the most infuriating thing in the world: to have a car tell me what best makes me feel comfortable when I am clearly capable of controlling the HVAC myself--that's why I have fingers and choose *not* to press the 'AUTO' button.
This 'feature' fills the first 10 minutes of my ride to work each morning with rage. I guess a rotary **** for fan speed was too obvious a choice...

Two HVAC buttons aren't red (on 1996 cars)
Every other light in the dash is red, why did they use an old part (same HVAC head unit as in the 1994-5 Audi 90s)?
Shiny instrument pointers - can't see them when the sunroof is open.
Dinky right side mirror - worthless in America. OK, in Germany they don't pass on the right.
Leather seats but cloth armrests.
