Me, I loves the Audi 'Auto' setting. I set it at 69F and I never have to touch anything.

Although, my 1998 has a non-auto setting that actually works like a true manual setting, so I'm in good shape either way.

I will say, that I like my Audi HVAC system much better than the auto systems in the last two Hondas we've had.

All that said, is your system truly acting as designed, for real?

That's what the dealer and a customer support representative from some New Jersey office told me--it was designed that way (i.e., the illusion of manual control).

It doesn't help that I like quiet and anything above three or four fan marks annoys me.

Pun intended. The lack of a high speed noisy fan is one reason why I love the Auto in my A4. On Auto, it will not use the highest 1 or 2 fan settings.

My wife gets in any car and immediately cranks the temp to one extreme and turns the fan to max. I keep trying to tell her that that doesn't really cool/heat any faster, just more annoying. I've given up, lol.

The current Honda system goes to max on the fan while on auto....also never seems to have the air coming out where I want it too. My Audi system reads my mind, I swear.

Sorry to here the newer gens may not work as well as the older ones.

yup, it does that. use the Auto feature, hit the Econ button (no a/c), temp, and let it do the rest.
