Back from Scandinavia: Audi Observations

Howdy fellow Audi Campers:
I just got back from my first extended vacation in eons: a trip to Denmark followed by a cruise around the Baltic. I couldn't help noticing the popularity of A4s and A3s in Denmark (Copenhagen, specifically) and a similar level of popularity for the Passat. Only saw a few A6s. Actually, it's a miracle there are any cars in Denmark at all, since there is a 200% tax on all automobile purchases. The tax probably accounts for the huge numbers of bicycles laying around unlocked on the streets.
The A3 looks like a really nice small car, but given VWs somewhat confusing marketing in the U.S., I can see why the A3 might not make it here lest it cannabalize VW sales.
Another interesting observation was the lack of Swedish cars in Denmark. Only saw a couple of Volvos and just one or two Saabs. Of course, the lack of Swedish-mobiles in Denmark was more than made up for in Stocklholm ;-)

The Danes and Swedes had this thing going.... The Danes I knew poked a lot of fun at the Swedes. I never found out how the Swedes felt about the Danes though.
I spent a semester abroad in Copenhagen with a Danish family in the mid-'80s. Copenhagen is a beautiful city filled with even more beautiful women. And sounds like lots of beautiful cars too according to your report!
