Default Back to square one with my 2.0 stroker project.

So now I'm again searching for a suitable ATW short/long block or AEB short block for which to base the build off of.

Anybody have something like that laying around that they're looking to get rid of?

Bonus points if you're willing to ship it.

Double extra bonus points if you're somewhere in the PacNW.

Spanks.

I doubt you'd want to use a motor with 144k on it for a 2.0 build up.

Default So long as it didn't suffer a catastrophic failure, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

Nothing wrong with a good, seasoned block to start from.

Yeah, but that's a LOT of heat cycles...

Default My 2.0 block had 155k miles on it

Looked mint though, way better than my old motor with 100k. Magnafluxed, sonic checked & bored with a torque plate, good as new to me.

Default Start w/ an ABA VW block early 92-93 forged crank and Timing ring. only real downside is you have to

plug 2 drain holes on the big port A4 heads. J&E has my pattern on pistons and Pauter has my pattern on the rods. These have much lower ring lands and oversized wrist pins, both of which are much improved designs over stock, + you will have a forged bottom end entirely. You wont get that with the blocks you mentioned. That should be more than enough block for 500chp and maybe more. The VW block is about the strongest I know of in the VAG group w/exception of the 1.9 diesel engine. And that has a HUGE crank that wont be good for revving unless you spend money. These should be easy to source in your area. We looked at every block made from VW and Audi that would work and this is by far the strongest (w/above exception). Any good machine shop can do a simple prep and have a good 2L block for not much money. Or I will build you a short block like mine for 20K$ which is good thru around 800chp we figure w/a GT40r. Let me know if you are interested and I can send some detail.

Default I thought that was well known by now?

I sent my shaft to Jarod@SCCH-Heads to do the machine work. He charges a reasonable fee. I had him do the standard machine work to the shaft as well as cut down the gear to 5.5mm so it doesn't hit #4 rod (not shown in pics) I'll know on Friday is 5.5mm was enough (hopefully was)

Anyone else doing this build using Scat rods could get the same work done to their shaft to clear, I'll update to let you guys know if 5.5mm was enough (for any future builds)
