Default Is it bad just to have a chip only?

I want to be able to get an cat-back exhaust and air filter, but I can't afford it right now.

Do you think getting the chip with everything else stock is bad?

Default I doubt it is bad.

It probably helps you get some more power out of your chip, but I doubt it will hurt your car to leave it that way. Especially if your going to upgrade whenever you get a chance.

My god! You didn't only chip, did you? Do you know what that will do to your car?

Default Yah, you need to have the flux capacitor installed.

It offsets the time-space distortion of the chip.

Default FWIW: Dealer told me not to chip unless I got an exhaust.

They said that the only problems they had seen with chiping were with the converter getting too hot and that a higher flow exhaust would prevent that.

When talking to chip vendors I was told that any god chip vendor SHOULD not cause you that problem.

Given the dealer thinks that the S4 Avant is totally different in back than an A4 Avant (for example they think the S4 has more headroom), which is TOTALLY stupid I don't know how much I would trust their opinion.

I did find it intresting that MTM has two chips, one for cars with an exhaust (Stage2) one for cars without (Stage1). Most other tuners have one chip for Stage1 and Stage2, the only difference being the exhaust.

What does this say? I can't really be sure. Either MTM is more agressive with an exhaust than the others, OR MTM is less agressive without.

Any good chip vendor (MTM, APR, & GIAC pop to mind, tho this is not the complete list) should work well for you.
