not at all
if your using good wax and your cleaning the car properly before waxing then its fine. A little nutty, but fine.
One Grand Blitz Wax is the most popular around here.
Meguiars Liquid Wax is decent
Zaino makes excellent wax.

Yes it is bad...
If your using cleansers over and over again and then waxing it can be bad for the paint..
Also, if you not using cleansers and just washing then waxing, then you could be rubbing small particles into the paint.. Its not a good idea gerneraly....
Flame war anyone!

Not bad per se, but unnecessary.......
Appx 1/2 your wax is gone 30 days after waxing, and another 1/2 (for a total of 75%) after 60 days. Therefore, it's safe to say, that every 30 days or so is often enough to wax. I personally wax about every 4 weeks in the winter and every 6 weeks or so in the summer. As for where to buy Blitz Wax (and it's GOOD stuff), go to carcareonline.com.

Blitz wax is excellent
This past Sunday I spent three hours detailing -- 3M swirl mark remover (about 90% effectiveness on a three-year-old car), 3M Imperial hand glaze, over which was applied a good thick coating of Blitz wax. The result was smooth, deep, glossy, wet-looking paint (my 2.8QMS is black).
