Ball Joint Separator Tool
I picked up yet another tool the other day to help replace some control arms. This tool from OTC is a perfect fit. No modifications required to it, and works great.
Thumbsup to National Tool Warehouse. Ordered on Tuesday afternoon, and I got it yesterday.
It's a perfect alternative to the VAG tool that Zelenda sells for like $150 now.<ul><li><a href="http://www.nationaltoolwarehouse.com/product.asp?prodid=51304">Ball Joint Separator</a></li></ul>

Does that one have the little indentation on the thumb end like the real one does?
If not, i'd consider making one. They do tend to slide around a little when you compress them. It might be possible for it to slide off the stud without the dimple.

Let us know how it works.
Those things seem to be a dime a dozen....I've even seen them for le$$--but they're not all created equally I'm sure. I've always thought that there must be a $20 one out there that equals the Zelenda $150 one....it's just NOT that complicated of a tool.

It does not.
I didn't have any problems with it sliding. The lower fork part sits very snug between the boot and lower spindle part. Seems pretty tough for that top part to move.
Certainly no harm in adding it in, though I'm done with the tool now.
