Default with the engine off?...

if your only showing 10v with the engine off. i'd say you have a dead cell. does the car run ok if you jump it? get a diehard, sears will test the whole system!

Default Go to any auto part store they can usually check your charging system for free.

They test the battery under full load and will check the alternators ability to charge. You should be at 13-14 v initially on start up and as the battery is replenished that will drop off a volt or so.Sometimes a dead cell may cause that number to drop. Also are you reading the gauge voltage.Use a Digital Volt Meter to messure the actual voltage as your gauge could also be off.
