My battery is just over 4 years old and I might have left the dome light on for several days. I got a jump and the battery was fine and even holding the charge for a few days. I decided not to drive it because the RPMs would go down to about 300 and almost conk out. I decided to get a battery from AutoZone and switch them. The car is still doing the same thing.
Where does the hose from the battery go? i think it goes through one of the drainage areas near the battery.
the dealer told me that every time an audi/vw needs a new battery or if the car battery dies, you have to reset the thottle memory. that is crazy. i have to somehow drive the car to the dealer without stalling (5spd.).
any ideas on this?????
thanks
Drew

I just had mine replaced last week. I just drove it into Sears Auto Center, got the Diehard International Batt. installed, then drove away.
It was fine.
I did bring it in after having to jump start my car once, and the mechanic (who has a VAG Tool) told be that there was some fault code that shows up when batteries die. He reset the fault codes.
I dunno about throttle memory... that doesn't sound right.
It sounds more like an alternator problem...
Also, have you cleaned the ground wire to your chassis??
