Default battery trouble

I parked my car on Saturday and this morning (Monday) it won't start. Voltage seems to be 9-10 based on the dashboard and my handheld voltmeter.

I noticed from looking at the battery that it has a hose coming out one side of it. It looks like a vacuum hose. What the heck is it? What is it for? And, can I recharge this battery with my trickle charger, or is it in some new exotic category of battery and I should just replace it?

If I replace it, is there some exact specification that I should look for in my new battery? For instance, one with the hose input?

My car is a 98.5 2.8q and the battery was replaced by Audi in January 2000 in an attempt to fix another problem at that time.

Thanks in advance for any input or comments on this situation.

Default But where is it going?

Sorry to ask, but I was dressed for work when I noticed it this morning, so couldn't crawl over the engine or under the car to see what was going on.

It leads to underneath the battery tray and into the drain hole

9-10 volts means one cell in your battery is gone, Only options is replacement.
