Battery well filled with water. Causes passenger side flooding. Found TWO drain holes.

Battery well filled with water. Causes passenger side flooding. Found TWO drain holes.

Thought I'd post a picture. Amazing how little "gunk" it takes to plug the two holes and potentially cause a lot of damage. I guess this clean up will be an annual fall event.
I appreciate all the previous posts on the subject, but most do not mention the SECOND drain hole over in front of the driver.

Cranked up brightness on the photo a lot. Now you can actually see the second hole. Sorry about that.

Re: what was clogging the drains? what year is your car?....
Leaves mostly and other debris that has fallen from trees or blown onto the windscreen and worked its way into the battery well or whatever the proper term is. I guess I should park it in the garage more, particularly as autumn asserts itself.

you may want to look into getting the cover that comes on 99.5 and up....
you need more than just the cover (the wiper soround and front firewall gasket iirc). but if you're going to keep the car and park outside it may be a good investment. if you're in new england i have a cover you can have cheap. it won't fit over my strut brace.

Thanks! That's a good thought. Did not know such a thing existed. I think I'll garage it more in the fall and take an annual peek at the battery well. What the heck is that large space called anyway?
