I'm looking into getting a 97/98 A4 1.8TQ and I plan on chipping it. After I chip it, however, what are some other reasonably priced mods I can do to add hp and torque? Please give your suggestions along with mods you have on your car and if they've increased performance and if so, by how much. Thank you for your time. I hope to be an A4 owner as soon as I can sell my bimmer.

But how much on average would an exhaust add hp wise? Does it increase torque at all? I thought I might've read somewhere that it actually shortens the range of peak torque. BTW, I don't want a loud car, do most of the aftermarket exhaust increase the noise drastically? Thanks

When I'm in chippped mode it's harder to tell the difference. It feels like any other chipped car to me. Probably becuse the $ power gain is smaller when chipped. I would say about 10 hp and 10 ft-lb gve or take.

Upgrade the rest of your car so it can cope with the added hp. Instant gratification is not worth it (especially when you come into a turn too hot and use the guardrail to scrub off some speed, theres nothing gratifying about that

Suspension, brakes, etc are important.
