Default Best place to buy a Tip Chip?

I figure I might as well make the best with my 1.8TQTip. Who can recommend a place to buy one? What kind of wait am I looking at until I get my ECU back?

Default The Tip chip goes on a seperate ECU from your engine ECU.

It is located in the front passenger kick panel. You might want to look for local GIAC dealers. That way you won't have to be without a car. Otherwise AWE sells the tip chip.

Default You can also get it from Matrix Engineering

I am sure you could do an overnight job with them... $250 for the chip through them.

Ask for Jeremy

Default $300?

What a wealth of information you guys are. And so fast!

The closest GIAC dealer is several hours away, and they charge $300 for the GIAC Tip Chip. I'm assuming installation takes but a few minutes?

Default Get it from AWE and here's why:

I just got a GIAC Tip chip installed by AWE two weeks ago, and last week it developed a problem due to a loose solder joint in the chip (ie, the chip had a short). I had the chip overnighted back to AWE and they turned it around in one day (I did have to wait the weekend but thats expected) and it was fixed -- all at no cost to me (they paid shipping). AWE is big enough that they have spares and experience in case something goes wrong. I highly reccomend them.

Default So overnight it and it'll be quick?

How much extra dough is that overnight shipping? I'm sure it'd be less than the $50.00 difference between my local GIAC dealer and AWE's price of $250.

Default If you say it is $300 then your talking about the tranny ecu

The tranny (TIP) ecu takes a little longer to get out, install of the chip takes about 30-45 minutes while you wait.
