Default Better check with the shops

there is the price of the chip and some add a install fee on top of that. So it is best to call up the shops and see what the total amount is going to be to get the chip installed into your ecu.

Default Well, the chip itself is $250 at AWE, $300 elsewhere

I don't know what kind of fees each place has, but that's a $50 difference up front.

Default But that is why I said to call them

it might show $250 but there might be a added install fee, but not all GIAC dealers charge that and you will find that the install fee is different shop to shop since they set that labor charge.

Default Some free advice,...

Hi there,

Please drive a car with the tip chip BEFORE you go and spend any money on it. After the K04, GIAC tip chip, GIAC ecu, filter, 3" exhaust, boost controller (all on the 1st tiptronic A4),... it didn't make any difference. You'll see that the upshift light changes faster, but an automatic is an automatic. IMO - NOT WHORTHWHILE. It was a waste of money and just another disappointing case with regards to car mods.

Default That all depends on what the guy has in his car

It made a HUGE difference for me, and IMO, it's one of the best mods. I daresay that my car with the tipchip will be as fast as a manual 2.8 comparably modded.
