Best Radar Detector? Thinking of Bel 980, maybe BEL 946 since it is cordless? How is performance?

This mod is reversable in about 3 minutes.
Just pull the cord out of the fuse box and trim, and, bang, you're back to stock. It's worth it to get the extra performance of a wired detector over a cordless one.
I've got an Excort Passport 8500. It took me 15 minutes to hardwire, and most of that was just securing the cable and checking the fuse box labels to find a suitable open connection.

Bel 975 LR.
My wife's car is a lease and the display is mounted with velcro under the dash, I did not cut anything to mount mine as shown.

My car is leased also and I have hardwired the Bel 980. It was very simple, just needed an inline
fuse (tuck it away behind the fuse panel), and a I cut the original connector and crimped on an extension (who cares what it looks like if it's hidden!). Then I bought a spare cigarette lighter adapter for it (which works but the plug is a little long, so that is why I did not use that one to cut up) incase I ever wanted to put the Bel in another car for a day.
