Default I'm thinking of trying that too. I have access to a machine shop, so once I get it out I might have

an easier time getting that pinch bolt out.

Default You can also hammer the outside of the housing to apply shock and loosen it up.

But heat is the best way, but like also mentioned, it will ruin the boots on the ca's. Unless you can find a way to protect them...

Default Midwest FTL...

It took me less than two minutes per side to get mine out.....with just a 3/8 ratchet to loosen and tapping it out with a hammer and screwdriver.

I'll second/third the impact wrench recommendation. An air-powered gun (they can be rented) will have more torque but hopefully the electric ones are strong enough.

Have fun...

Default for the $5-$15 they charge for them, you really can't go wrong...

I've also been toying with picking one up, but have yet to get one for some reason. There have been a few instances where I wish I had it on hand when tearing down my 4000.

Default that is good, but like i said below, a few days driving around with PB sprayed on there

should penetrate that rust and make it easier to remove. the photos in that link are really good at showing what the issue is.

and play with jacking the hub up and down to reduce/change the forces on the pinch bolt.
