Default Best way to mix coolant?

Picked up my gallon of G12 from the dealership today. $28 per gallon...Ouch. Anyway, whats the best way to mix the antifreeze with the distilled water?

Thanks in advance

Default I use a spare coolant bottle

Pour half of the G12 into the empty bottle, then fill up both bottles with distilled water to get your 50/50 mix.

Default Didn't have time...

At least now I know for future reference, but I did not have time to search around for it and wait for it to be shipped. As far as I knew, I could only get it at the dealership.

Default Re: I use a spare coolant bottle

That's what I planned on doing, I just wasn't sure if there was a better way.

Thanks

Default yeah make sure that you order like 2 bottles now with some crush washer and oil filters

to make it worth. its always good to have some genuine audi coolant and atf if you are tipped inside the garage when you have one.
that reminds me that i need to list my atf bottles that i have in the garage for sale

Default Drain 1/4 of the bottle into a clean container, and set aside.

Mark the level at which the coolant is at in the OEM container, dump the coolant in the reservoir, fill the OEM container with water up to the mark you left, dump that water in the tank. The system should easily take 1.5 gallons after you're done bleeding, so you should be able to toss in every last drop of water.

When you're done, put that coolant you set aside back in the OEM container, and mix in an equal part of water. Label the container 50/50, and use it anytime you need to top off.

Default Simple, in the cooling system itself.

You find out the total volume in the cooling system, in my case 9 litres. Add 4.5 litres of G12+ (for a 50/50 mix - 3 bottles) into the overflow bottle and then top up with water.

Done, no fuss and no mess.
