Default Big problem with timing belt

I just finished my tb and it started very rought, figured I messed up the timing. After lots of checking I found out the new Dayco belt I got was different than the old one. The spaces between the teeth is smaller, there for it moving the alignment a bit to the left and if I move a tooth to the right then its a bit off to the right.
At this point I am so scared that I have broken something inside teh engine already.
The weird thing is that the part # matched the one listed on the website in pap-parts.com and also with the invoice. I am not sure if its the wrong belt or its just differnt. Has any one one done their own tb that can help me out here? Now I am about to put back on the old belt and tensioner to see if it still runs.

Default How did you mark the crank and camshaft?

And did you manually crank the engine two full turns to check the indexed points before you started the car?
