Default I've got an OEM rack for a '01 that I've hardly used. Now I use my van to...

transport the bike, so I don't need it. I'd cut you a nice deal on it.

Fits nice, I don't remember which brand Audi uses, I think its Thule.

Thanks for your help, guys...I greatly apprecaite it!

Dolmanger, where do you live? Can you find the manufacturer of this rack? What is included?

What would be your asking price?

Thule Sweden manufactures the OEM rack.

Default I live in Northern Va. I've got the base bars, and one bike rack for it.

It's the rack where you have to take the front wheel off and lock it in. Just snapped a quick picture, it's not assembled. My guess is that it wouldn't be that hard to ship.

I bought it from the dealer, so I probably paid a bit for it, but since I'm not using it, I'd rather pass it on to someone who could use it. Make me an offer over email (miknny@yahoo.com) and we can see if work something out.

Default Re: Not at all

1. you win
2. my brackets fit perfect, dont' know how they could fit better
3. my 14 year old towers work fine
4. possibly, but my yakima is plenty tight
5. how is square stronger than round? physics seems to disagree.
6. i don't know, but don't most accessories fit both systems now?

Default I have had Thules for forever... That being said, I think Yakima makes a better fit...

I had sedan racks in the past with Thule, and they're a pain to install/remove as compared to Yakima. With the Yakima racks, you adjust them once and then they just click on and off -- you'll have to ask someone to show you. Easier than for me to try to explain... On the Thule systems, there is a "thumb" bolt to tighten/loosen the rack's clamps. Not very accurate and you pretty much have to adjust it every time. I got good at guessing it right though...

But--- I like the Thule ski attachments more, while the Yakima "Steel-head" bike carriers are top notch. I have the Thule "Velo Vise" carriers and have not had any problems with them. I just think the Yakima's steel clamps feel stronger than the Thule's plastic. Don't get me wrong -- I like my Thule though. Right now, I have their "751xt" system for our avant -- waaay better than my old sedan setups! (Integrated clamp feet/bar)

Either way -- you can't really go wrong with either company. If you take the rack on and off lots, consider the Yakima, otherwise pick the one you can get the best deal on.
