Bird crap on paint?

Bird crap on paint?
When i started up the car this morning, I notice a small splotch of bird stuff on my trunk lid. Car was still wet from the overnight rain, so I just squeegied it off while I was wiping off the windows. However, it looks kinda like it might have started to eat away at the clearcoat- it's almost like a faint ring or shadow mark.
Is there anyway to get that out, or is it something I should even worry about? How can I tell if it got throught the paint/clearcoat?
Thanks for your help.

Yep... The stuff etched the clear coat...
It has happened to mine in several places. Just try some polish...
You will make it better, but not invisible. You can only really see it on an angle.

if it etches, you might be able to buff it out to some degree (m)...
when I bought mine used, it had a nice big blotch of etched clearcoat right in the middle of the hood. It was pretty noticeable. I'd bet the previous owner had it sitting in the sun and a big bird with a really bad stomach problem took a dump on it and it must've sat there for at least a few days before getting cleaned.
Anyway, the dealer buffed it out and it helped a lot. I could still see it but not as obvious.
Incidentally, I ended up having the car repainted later on so now it's gone for good!

Great cars, worst clear coat I have ever seen!
I have a Santorin car with the same problems. No car I have ever owned was like this. I agree with the others, you wont make it invisible but dont let it go or the clear coat will crack where the mark was. Good luck.

I see you've never driven a Honda ! :-)
My last car was an Acura Integra in their dark purple (almost black) color. THAT was the worst clear coat I have ever seen.
When I got my A4, it was like a breath of fresh air.
Granted, my A4 is Pelican Blue and does not show marks like the darker colors do. But the paint job is significantly better than my Acura's.

Actually, my wife has a Honda
Its not the greatest, but it is still better than my car. My Maxima that preceeded the A4 was outside for 7 years and never did what this car does. The paint is beatiful but the clear is so soft. Maddening!

Try Meguirs Mirror Glaze
Wow, I am surprised that you said that both the Honda and Nissan are better than the Audi's paint job. I hated my Acura's paint job, and I hear a lot of complaints about Nissan too.
Meguirs Mirror Glaze #7 (Showcar Glaze) is an amazing polish that gets out small scratches and staints. Give it a try. It worked pretty well on my Acura which was a dark color.
It also worked great on a few spots I got on my A4, but like I said before, the P.Blue is apparently much easier to care for than the darker colors.
Good luck,
Peter
