BMW E46 Lip Spoiler Question...

I read the tech article on the E46 lip spoiler, but I am still confused on one point. When you bow the spoiler so that it fits the contour of the rear trunk, do you need to heat it up and bend it so that it stays in place? It seems like if you don't do something of that sort, that the tape won't be able to hold the bowed spoiler in place and it will rip off.
Some advice on this would really help as I want to install the spoiler today.
Thanks,
Anthony

We found that even if you try to "pre-bend/bow" the thing, it has a memory and will return to it's original curvature eventually. You just start in the middle and work your way out carfully, matching the curvature of the trunk. That tape is more than adequate to hold it on there....trust me once you press it down you won't get it back off. Good luck

mark the middle of the spoiler and the middle of your trunk. Line up the markings and apply the spoiler to the trunk. Take care not to mount the spoiler too far back (make sure you're mounting it to the flat part of the trunk not the rounded edge) so it sticks well. Use the ultra thin mounting tape from 3M. It will hold it down and keep it from deflecting back to the original shape.
