How much boost can the stock turbos hold? My brother told me when he drove one it couldnt even hold 7psi. Is this true?

Default nope. i make 16 and you should start looking in the faq for your questions

also if you are a teenager and think about an audi dont forget that those things are HIGH maintenance so dont buy and then get stuck with repairs that you cant afford

What kind of high maintenance? Do you mean things break a lot? I own a dsm if that tells u anything about maintenance.

Default 1. Change the subject when you reply please.

I have a 89 TSi. That car is simple compared to my A4.

The stock turbo can hold at least 50psi.

Default sounds good

My brother just said it boost to like 7psi and then leaks down. I wanted to make sure this was false because until i can do more i want to get a exhaust, intake, and boost controller and try to get the power out of the 100's.

Default No boost controller. Throw out everything you know about cars.

No MBC, no BOV. Both hurt performance.

Chip-brakes-suspension in that order.

Stick around and learn, these are great cars, but *demand* to be doen correctly. If you add a MBC you will dmage the car. Plan on about $3200 per month in maint costs on a modded car.

Default EBC only deals with boost, not fuel curve or timing.

You need to chip the car.

Default also boost psi isn't everything. Volume is another measurement that is required when considering

The stock turbo can produce high boost, but the volume of air is not going to be there for applications much over 200HP. You would have to step up to a larger turbo such as a K04 or a GT28RS. I pull about 17 psi with my high flow cat, Borla exhaust, and APR chip and factory k03 turbo. It's about as fast as my old 93 TSI AWD that I had. And I had a test pipe and and modified boost control solenoid. I've had less major problems with my Audi than I had with my TSI AWD. But the audi requires constant minor work. And that is what kills you. I have 156K miles on my A4 now. Things like control arms, timing belts, tie rods, wheel bearings, the list goes on. But I have not had any engine problems, transmission problems, ect.

My TSI AWD had 3 transmissions, 2 rear diffs, 2 or 3 xfer cases, valve lifters, was burning oil at 120K miles over the 5 1/2 years I owned it.
