Default Boost controller

Just today I put a manual boost controller on my 97 a4 1.8T. I have the boost set at 15psi and the car is kickin a$$. If I start from a top and floor it the car takes off and accelerates very well, but If I am drivin and I get on it and the RPM's are around 2ish or so fuel cuts. Do you guys have any suggestion for a way to stop this. Maybe I could upgrade my fuel system, but regardess with a piece that I got for free from my friend I am runnin 200 if not more horsepower, with alittle time I could get my car runnign right and completely get rid of the need for an exspensive chip that wil void my warranty.

Default 200hp...i seriously doubt it....your car will definatly throw codes, and i would upgrade the fuel

quick. larger injectors, dual fuel rail?, maybe fuel pump.

it may feel like 200hp...but i assure u it isn't, there's a conversion somewhere...i'll post if i can dig it up. (every X psi = X hp)

Default here is some problems you will have with your car.

Manual boost controlers don't work good on the A4 this is why.

1. Boost is adaptive in the bosch system using a manual it attempts to spool the turbo full blast at any RPM range.

2. The K03 needs to back off at around 4,500rpm especially the 97-98 turbochargers which are the smallest K03's with the old sleve shaft bearing. K03-0005 is the weakest turbo so you will need to start saving for a turbo replacement soon just in case.

3. you won't throw codes in the car as long as you keep the frequency valve plugged in. but you will run lean

4. only way to upgrade the fuel system is by chip an FPR might help but it is a band aid fix it will only help you by 10% estimated. if you upgrade your injectors with out proper chip tuning your car will never start and will bog all the time.

5. Watch out for pings these cars ping real nice with high boost, more air no fuel = bye bye engine.

I seriously doubt you have 200hp inorder to make HP you need fuel. Basically the ECU will adapt but won't cover the high demands of the boost. i would estimate your power to be around 180 with 200 ft of torque. that kick *** feeling you get is low end Torque not HP don't be fooled.

Default feels like crap in cruising speeds, right? well, just to answer the question

the only way youre going to keep both 'setups' is to use a control solenoid - its basically a switched port where you can select which air passage/hose to use.

boost is good but you really need more than that. save up for a turbo upgrade/replacement before you fry the one you have

Default wont the BCS potentailly void your warranty anyhow. if your turbo goes they are gonna be wondering

how you got all that boost to blow it, hell I bet they will wonder if you just get a blown BPV...at that point they will assume two things...chip or BCS

Default

yup, it would be very easy to detect tampering of the turbo hoses

Default Re: Boost controller

The MBC is nice how it gets in boost fast I got one and love it!
But I got a T3/T4, not a good idea cause you will prolly get a kick back if you run more boost then the chip is designed for. Also the K03 is pretty small and that turbo is gonna explode spinning that fast at that high of RPM. Your making a lot of heat that way.
