Default Boost leak...

Up until recently I would see boost peak to 20 psi and hold at a solid 15-16psi. Now, the boost will only spike to about 15psi, fall back down to about 10 and then slowly raise up to about 13 psi and hold there. The boost is the most eradict when it builds very quickly, like when punch it at 3500 rpms in 2nd it goes everywhere. When it takes a while to raise it holds a little better, like going from 2500 in third it will be slighty more stable. I've already changed the bpv from the stock to the tt225, checked all the connections for the pipes and reset the ecu but still the problems persist. The only other thing I can think of is that my gauge is innacurate. Any suggestions on how to fix this or check if the gauge is still accurate??? Thanks. Oh ya, mods are giac 1 bar, borla, t5 intake, tt225 bpv and awe boost gauge if that helps.

Your TT225 BPV could be bad. The TT guys complain about them breaking, too.

Boost normally is lower in very low temperature. I experience the same thing in my 2000 1.8t

Default hmm, it has been a little cooler though but Im in south florida so the diff is like 90 vs 75...

I dont think that would make a 5 psi difference

Default OK Hmmmm...... Do notice any difference in performance, or...

is it just the boost gauge readout that has changed? If the car doesn't feel different, it may just be the gauge. Try replacing it, or try running new lines.

Default yeah i was talking about more like dropping from 80 to 30s. That doesn't sound normal.

However when I had the GIAC chip it does go up to 20psi and then drops down to 14 to 15 in the summer and in the winter it would spike only to around 15 to 16 and settles around 11 to 12.

Default I never see lower boost levels. I even drive the car in low 30's and I still see 20psi in all gears.

The dbw system will even adjust for the lower temps and lower boost levels using the boost sensor.

Default What do you mean, you said the dbw would lower boost levels and then you said you never see lower

boost levels? when I had my GIAC chip it lowers the boost in low temps. Unless Garrett made some changes in his later revisions.

Default It doesnt really feel slower but It happened gradually so it may be hard to tell...

Also, yesterday I ran with my friends car, which is pretty damn fast,(1.8t gti with chip and 3" dp) from about 70-130 and he pulled maybe only 1 car on me so I think the performance is still there. I think I'm gonna try and get my hands on a vagcom and see how much its reading.
