When I picked my car up from being seviced the other day, all was fine and good. The next day when I went out to leave, it started and everything was fine, but then when I was driving down the road the boost cut out at like 4k in every gear. I got to where I was going, took care of what I needed to and came back and started home and all was fine. Boost all the way up to ~7k where I was shifting just to make sure it was boosting all the way up. Everything was fine for a couple days and this morning its cutting the boost again. I don't hear the BPV opening and closing like I normally can when it leaks and it usually just pops open and right back shut when it does, now the boost is just dying off with no apparent reason. Does this sound like a really bad BPV or something more serious?

how do you know what boost you were running? what do you mean boost cut out at 4k? so you mean you had no power? and full boost to 7k? i know w/ my apr chip i'll run 15psi to about 5500/6000 and then it will slowly start to taper off just a bit to maybe about 10/12psi.
to me it sounds like boost it tapering down just a bit under where it should, but other than that.....

I had exactly the same problem on My A4. The mechanic and the dealer found that a wire to the boost (whatever that means) was torn/ or simply had bad connection. Once it was fixed, never had that problem again.

...my question: how do you know that it's boost, and not something else? Are you verifying this with a boost gauge? Take a quick look under the hood and check for loose hoses, wires, etc. If all looks okay, take it back to them asap.

I don't have my boost gauge installed, but I know its cutting boost because its going along fine and then the whoosh from the turbo abruptly stops and I can shift and no sound from the BPV. My intake is really loud when you shift as the BPV opens and closes and its completely quiet when this problem is occuring. I have the APR chip too, and its nothing like the tapering at the top, one second its there, the next its gone.

still sounds fishy to me. you dont always hear the bpv opening. i still think its just a taper, unless your butt dyno is dead on, which i doubt it is.

Dude trust me, it's not a taper. It goes from boosting full on to nothing. The car bucks forward like you hit the brakes.

...of a fuel-starvation problem, which could be a clogged filter, bad ground to the fuel-pump, etc. I don't know why, but when you say it suddenly cuts off, this is what I think of.
However, why guess? If it happened soon after getting it from the dealer, then take it back and let them diagnose it, instead of guessing.
