I went to buy an extra ECU for my '97 A41.8TMQ and I noticed the part # on this ECU differs from mine. The part # on my original is: "8DO 907 557N" and the one I just bought shows part #: 8DO 907 558M". Any differences from the two in terms of application, model years, etc.?

The real test is if it can be coded to your car's specs (Q or FWD, manual or auto or tip).
If you can code the ECU to your specs, then you should be fine. YOu need a Vagcom to code it though.
