Ptown

so i am driving around town listening to my CDs (six disc changes in the trunk). i get out and park, and when i return and start the car i get the famous 'ERR1' message on all of my CDs. The CDhadnt changed to another CD yet. so i take out the cartridge and replace it with another... same 'ERR1' message. So now it appears my CD player isnt reading any CD. it sounds like the CDs are able to be swapped from the cartridge into the player, but the player appears to not read the CDs properly any more. is there anything i can do to fix this? the dealership here in my town is way busy and wont be able to get to it for another couple of weeks... any help would be greatly appreciated.
