Both upper front ball joints failed at 18K miles :-(
I took my car to get inspected today (Vermont) and was informed that both (left and right) upper front ball joints have too much play. I had a second place look at it as well and they showed me the joint and agreed there was too much play. This sucks because they were replaced 2.5 years ago at 78K and now I am at 96K. Suspension is silent also, though it does seem to wander a little more than usual on the interstate.
What is the favorite control arm brand these days? I am hoping for these last a little longer than 18K ?
Also, when just replacing the upper control arms, do you still need to remove the whole upright? I would like to try to do this myself if possible.
