Is the bounciness (sp?) normal in 1st, 2nd gear of a 1.8T 5spd?

Is the bounciness (sp?) normal in 1st, 2nd gear of a 1.8T 5spd?
What I mean is that if you lift your foot off the gas even slightly, mostly in 1st and 2nd gear the car kinda bounces forward and back. Feels alot like the car pulls back on the speed. Is that normal for an A4 1.8T 5 spd? It's quattro as well, does that have something to do with it?
Does anyone else have a hard time shifting smoothly through the lower gears?
