Default Brake Changes for 99.5 A4

I checked the archives and didn't see this on any of the 99.9 change lists and don't remember seeing any discussions about brake changes on the 99.5 model.

I have been looking for Mintex Red Box pads for my' 00 A4 but nobody seems to have any. I called New Dimensions (Santa Clara) and they said that the '00 pads are slightly larger. They found this when a customer tried to install the Mintex pads on his '00. I then called Claire, who confirmed that there were changes to the brake pads the 99.5 model.

Dose anyone know when Mintex will have Red Box pads for the 99.5 and '00 models (hopefully with the updated wear sensor connector)

Default No plans yet...

I too was one of the 99.5 owners that found out the hard way that the wear sensor connector does not match. I recently contacted Camra Motorsports (where I bought my Mintex Red Box pads) and they said that they haven't seen anything and Mintex hasn't said anything. Doesn't mean that nothing coming but it doesn't look too promising for the near future.

A solution maybe to wire the OEM plugs to the Mintex pads (disconnect and resolder)...I have heard of others doing this but I haven't put too much time into it to find out more.

FWIW, I also contacted New Dimensions and they charge a bit more than Camra.

Default Ron - I must say, that after 10k, the stock 99.5 pads produce WAY less dust.

I drive a 99.5<ul><li><a href="http://www.rwnewmedia.com/a4">Rich W's A4</a></li></ul>

Default That was probably me!

It just so happened I purchased a set of Redbox from New Dimensions a couple of weeks ago and tried to have them installed for my '00 2.8 at a local shop yesterday. The shop told me the fronts were too small, and I confirmed that with a call to New Dimensions. They said they didn't know they changed the design of the '00 A4 braking. What a pisser. I'll have to send them back.

So, if others have put Mintex Redbox pads on their '99.5 or '00 A4, where did you get them? New Dimensions doesn't seem to have any more info.

BTW, I still had the Mintex installed on the rears, and I'll run on this system for awhile. If the rears don't any more noticable brake dust than before, then I'll just leave the whole thing alone.
